Medical Malpractice Statutes of Limitations
There is a time limit in which a medical malpractice lawsuit can be filed. In a large majority of states the statute begins to run at the time of the alleged medical malpractice. In general, there are three exceptions: 1. Leaving a foreign object in the body during surgery, 2. When the patient is a minor, and 3. When there is fraudulent concealment of malpractice by the physician.
